First post of the year... a wonderful goldsmith who went to the same high school as I did is creating some beautiful work.

I'm not much of a jewellery wearer, but these are in a different category. I love the lines of nature and functional art and her work reflects both. These designs are from a line called "Twigs".

The peacock's plumage is an 'eyeful' see what I mean?
In Perthshire, Scotland, you will find Scone Palace. Fifteen hundred years ago, it was the capital of the Pictish kingdom and the centre of the ancient Celtic church. In the intervening centuries, it has been the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of Kings. It has housed the Stone of Destiny and been immortalised in Shakespeare's Macbeth. This is one of its residents in full regalia.

Haystack Rock

Haystack Rock, one of the most recognized landmarks in Oregon (made famous in the movie Goonies) sits in the haze of a spring day, surrounded by the gorgeous Pacific Ocean with the silhouette of a tree in the foreground. From the sharp imposing rocks in the foreground to the soft watercolor like mountains in the background to the grand pine tree framing the shot; our eye is drawn so many different directions.

"This scene was taken near the famous Cape St. Mary's fishing ground on the coast of Newfoundland. The fog rolling in over the hill and the beautiful colours of the water make a mystical and peaceful scene." writes Patricia.

I was at Cape St. Mary's, Newfoundland last summer and the mist can totally obscure the view one minute and then the next it's wow. Patricia has captured that wow moment in this photograph.

Vision of Pont Neuf

The antiquated soft blue haze creates a kind of time warp. The eye can almost 'see' the history of this place.

The construction of the Pont Neuf in Paris commenced in 1578 by King Henry III and was completed under the reign of King Henry IV in 1607. Restoration of the bridge started in 1994 and was completed in time for its 400th anniversary in 2007.
